Requirements:  The customer was looking to build Aux-Meter an add-on device for the Battery management system. Aux-Meter is a three-phase energy meter with LORA connectivity, PT100/1000 temperature sensor, Humidity sensor and AC power switch up to 20 Amp of load. It will be used to measure accurate energy from the grid system through current sensors and send the energy data to the master controller which has LORA and WLAN connectivity. Aux-Meter is powered through AC main supply, which would be supported up to 110 to 230 volts with less power consumption.

Solution: Electrobit has designed system i.e., Aux Meter device (HEAM Device) built on STM32L4 microcontroller to measure the energy (including voltage and current) with LORA wireless connectivity. The device’s key feature was energy measurement, and we achieved reliable and > 95% accurate energy measurement with all types of loads. The device includes power switching based on remote command via LORA or time-based scheduling to control power via relay. The device also has a humidity and temperature sensor, as well as a fail-safe mechanism.

    Requirements: The customer was looking to build a 600W micro inverter for solar panels that can be connected to the grid. Microinverters must be designed with panel and control system protection, whether connected in series or in parallel.

    Solution:

    Designed Solar micro inverter with TI DSP microcontroller to generate pure AC signal from solar panel DC power. For inverters, we used a bipolar PWM switching mechanism. The inverter is protected against overvoltage, low solar input, short circuit, and isolation.

      Requirements: Need to design a solar optimizer through which multiple solar panels can be placed in series or parallel with maximum power utilization. The individual output of any connected panel can be controlled through a central communication hub. If any panel has any kind of fault, then it will be isolated automatically without changing any wiring or manual operation.

      Solution: 

      Solar Optimizer monitors and provides a maximum power output of solar panels. Also, In auto mode, it controls the maximum power output of the panel through the MPPT algorithm. The optimizer’s voltage and current can be controlled through the central hub’s algorithm or user command. The panel will disconnect itself from the series connection panel on detection of a fault or can’t produce enough power without manual efforts.

      Optimizer gateway is a central monitoring and control system for a series-connected solar system. The system can be controlled through an external control system or user through LORA or RS485 communication. Users can see historical data with fault logging anytime using the gateway.

            Requirements: The client certainly needs to design a battery management system for LTO batteries, through which battery cells can be balanced through an active balancing mechanism. Above all, It means the charge of cells will be transferred from one cell to another without losing energy. Passive balancing technique disperses energy in heat through a power resistor. Balancing was done with an average 4Amp of the current to make the balancing process fast enough to manage higher charging or discharging current up to 200 Amp.

            Solution:

            We have designed an active BMS system suitable for all kinds of batteries like LTO (2.4V cell voltage), lithium iron phosphate (usually 3.7V cell voltage), and lithium-based battery cells. Multiple BMS systems connect through serial communication for higher voltage requirements. BMS systems with safety precautions like a short circuit, higher voltage, higher current, cell health monitor, and temperature monitoring of each battery cell. BMS systems can also connect to an IoT gateway to monitor all information or remotely control the system. BMS systems basically connect to external systems through RS485 or CAN to control or monitor the parameters.
